Antonio Serrano Harmonica, Founder of the Seminar Antonio Serrano is a virtuoso of his instrument, one of the greatest promises of Spanish jazz today and one of the most sought-after session musicians in his country. Endowed with an astonishing technical facility and a profound theoretical knowledge, Antonio Serrano also shows an enormous musical versatility that is faithfully reflected in his extensive record of collaborations. The harmonica player moves with equal ease in musical fields as diverse as jazz, flamenco, pop and classical music, a skill that few others can boast. In jazz, his phrasing reflects the influence of Toots Thielemans, with whom Serrano himself has collaborated on several occasions. Jorge Pardo Composer, Flautist, Saxophonist Jorge Pardo is a Spanish jazz and flamenco musician, tenor and soprano saxophonist and flautist. He uses a musical language that is a cross between roots jazz and flamenco and his style with the flute and saxophone is considered a benchmark of innovation. In 2013 he received the award for Best European Jazz Musician, becoming the first Spaniard to be recognised with the award from the French Jazz Academy. In 2015 he received the Premio Nacional de Músicas Actuales, winner of the 2019 Grammy Awards for the album Antidote with Chick Corea... Carles Benavent Electric Bass Carles Benavent is a native of Barcelona's Poble Sec neighbourhood. A bassist, although he also doubles on mandolin and mandola, Benavent has played with Paco de Lucía, Chick Corea and Miles Davis, and is often seen playing with Jorge Pardo. He has worked in recent years in the so-called new flamenco, especially since his collaboration with Paco de Lucía, which is shown in the impressive Live in America. Tino di Geraldo Percussion Tino di Geraldo, born in Toulouse in 1960, is a Spanish percussionist and drummer of Asturian origin. He has worked with flamenco greats such as Camarón and Vicente Amigo, and has collaborated with pop artists such as Luz Casal. With Carles Benavent and Jorge Pardo, he formed an influential trio in the fusion of flamenco and jazz. He is known for his versatility and creativity in music. Josemi Carmona Guitar Josemi Carmona, born in 1971 in Madrid, is an outstanding flamenco guitarist, member of the Los Habichuela family. He made his debut at the age of 9 and was part of Ketama, an influential flamenco-fusion group. After the dissolution of Ketama, he continued his career as a soloist and has collaborated with great artists such as Paco de Lucía. He currently plays regularly with Javier Colina and Antonio Serrano. Ana Salazar Bailaora/Cantaora Ana Salazar, born in Cádiz in 1978, is an outstanding bailaora, cantaora and actress. She has worked with flamenco greats such as Antonio Canales and Eva Yerbabuena. In 2003 she released Ana Salazar canta a Edith Piaf, an album that won her an award in France, the first non-French woman to receive it. Her art mixes flamenco with genres such as jazz and chanson. José Luis Kaele Piano José Luis Kaele is a Flamenco-Jazz pianist born in 2000 in Spain. From the age of four, he began to play the piano in a self-taught way, developing an exceptional talent thanks to his absolute ear, which allows him to reproduce any piece of music after hearing it only once. He comes from a family with a strong flamenco tradition, something that has significantly influenced his jazz playing. His influences include renowned jazz, flamenco and Latin musicians such as Chano Domínguez, Chick Corea and Michel Camilo. Currently, he leads the ‘Kaele New Jazz Trio,’ formed in 2022, where he experiments with modern jazz, is working on his first album and is a member of Antonio Serrano's sextet ‘Flamenco Messengers’. Dee Jay Foster Double Bass, Electric Bass He studied electric bass at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Also with Pat Martino, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano. He ended up playing in groups in Boston and New York, with artists such as Leo Genovese, Esperanza Spalding's pianist, the trombonist and pedagogue Hal Crook, Ian Froman, David Liebman's drummer, and Bob Gullotti, drummer of The Fringe. In recent years, he has taught at numerous seminars (Malaga, Lugo, Valencia and Cadiz), is co-director, together with Jorge Rossy and Roger Mas, of the Begues Jazz Camp and teaches at the Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales.
